Your guides will pick you up at the airport for a short drive to the Kelowna Marina where we board a 33 foot luxury cabin cruiser. We travel south to Peachland taking our time so we can swim and ride the two Seadoos as our warm up to the adventure. Leaving the Seadoos in Peachland we will open the wine and relax while taking in the scenery for the rest of our cruise to Penticton.
At the end of the lake we will drive to a well appointed back-country camp overlooking the beautiful Similkameen valley and a fine meal. After settling into camp you can enjoy the sunset over the mountains, a campfire with a few beverages, while relaxing away from the noise and intrusions of modern life.
The morning of day two will begin with a fresh breakfast, and locally roasted coffee brewed in time honored camp fashion. We will begin the day’s activities with a quick explanation of basic firearms safety, and an introduction to the various long guns you will be firing. These will include bolt action, pump action, and semi-automatic rifles and shotguns, ranging in model from common to unique- including a few with historical significance.
Your day will progress from .22 cal rimfire rifles, through intermediate and large caliber centrefire rifles, from .223 cal to .30-06. You will also fire both .410 cal and 12 gauge shotguns, to include shell loads of bird-shot, buckshot, and slugs. Throughout the day you will get a chance to fire at many types of targets, including paper bulls-eyes, spinning steel reactive targets, steel gongs for longer ranges, clay pigeons, and finally “binary compound” exploding targets- quite an experience for new shooters.
The day will be planned to ensure fun and new challenges for all levels of skill and experience. We will finish up with a friendly competition before relaxing with a freshly prepared supper, resting in the natural beauty of the Okanagan Valley. You will have an opportunity to take in a twilight hike, with beautiful views of the valley below, before a comfortable rest in a deluxe camp cot.
Day three will be focused on the vertical world surrounding our exclusive access campsite. A short trip will bring you into the unparalleled beauty of the mountains, from where we will begin our adventures from valley floor to summit and back, truly an experience that is “off trail”. The untouched nature allows us to offer simple scrambling, via ferrata and rope ladders, and simple and safe top-rope climbing. A fresh lunch will be included, eaten on the mountainside while taking a break in the fresh air. To come back down, the choice of a hike will be on offer, though rappelling is our recommendation- and we include all the necessary instruction and equipment.
The day will leave you feeling refreshed and invigorated by new challenges, while having held confidence that our combined experience and abilities have kept you safe and comfortable regardless of your experience level or personal fitness. After a day of scrambling, climbing, and rappelling all of us will have worked up an appetite and will appreciate a hearty camp meal of locally produced and naturally raised ingredients that come together to give you an appreciation for the local flavors. When we return, it will be to a welcoming campfire and drinks where we can relax and recall the great moments of the day around a campfire with a fine Scotch. The big skies of the area provide some great views of the stars, and are the main attraction for hobby astronomers every summer.
On day four we will leave the camp behind early enough to make the most of your last day of adventure. Beginning with coffee at a guesthouse in Oliver and a chance to freshen up with a shower, we then head to Road 13 Vineyard. Located on the ‘Golden Mile’ bench, Road 13’s home vineyard is where we will be treated to a private tasting and brunch. Joe Luckhurst, son and General Manager of the family owned winery will host our tasting of exclusive wines including many unique single varietals and blends not available in Ontario. Finally, we will transport you back to the airport, re-invigorated from your experience in the outdoors, fresh and ready to tackle of the challenges of everyday life.
